What Is App Store Connect?
App Store Connect is Apple's web-based portal where developers manage every aspect of their iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS apps. From initial app submission to post-launch analytics, it is the central hub for your App Store presence.
If you publish apps on Apple's platforms, you will spend significant time in App Store Connect. Understanding its features and workflows is essential for efficient app management and ASO execution.
Getting Started

Core Features
App Information
This is where you configure your app's fundamental details:
- App name - Your primary title (30 characters max)
- Subtitle - Secondary text below your name (30 characters max)
- Category - Primary and secondary category selection
- Privacy Policy URL - Required for all apps
- Content Rights - Declare any third-party content usage
- Age Rating - Completed via questionnaire
Version Management
Each app version has its own product page configuration:
- Screenshots and previews - Upload per device type and localization
- Description - Up to 4,000 characters
- Promotional text - 170 characters, changeable without a new version
- Keywords - 100 characters, comma-separated (critical for ASO)
- What's New - Release notes for the update

Promotional text is one of the most underused features. Unlike other metadata, you can update it anytime without submitting a new version or going through review. Use it for seasonal messaging, event promotions, or feature highlights.
TestFlight
Apple's beta testing platform, managed through App Store Connect:
- Internal testing - Up to 100 testers from your team, no review needed
- External testing - Up to 10,000 testers, requires Beta App Review
- Test groups - Organize testers by purpose (QA, stakeholders, public beta)
- Automatic distribution - New builds auto-distribute to selected groups
- Feedback collection - Testers can send screenshots and text feedback
- 90-day expiry - Beta builds expire after 90 days

Product Page Optimization
Run A/B tests on your store listing directly from App Store Connect:
- Test up to 3 treatments against your original

- Test icons, screenshots, and app preview videos
- Results include conversion rate comparisons and confidence intervals
In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Manage your monetization:
- Consumable - One-time purchases that can be rebought (credits, coins)
- Non-consumable - One-time permanent purchases (premium unlock, remove ads)

Each IAP requires its own review, description, and pricing configuration.
